I still remember the first time I visited Cincinnati back in 2011. As I wandered downtown, I couldn’t help but notice the random pig statues scattered throughout the city. “What’s with all the pigs?” I asked a local barista while grabbing my morning coffee. “Oh, that’s just our thing,” she shrugged. “Cincinnati was once known as ‘Porkopolis’ because of all the pig processing that happened here.”
Fast forward to today, and Cincinnati’s porcine heritage is making its way onto one of the coolest sneaker collabs I’ve seen in years: the Unheardof x adidas Adistar Cushion 3 “Piggy Runners.”
Look, I’ve covered a LOT of sneaker releases in my decade-plus of blogging, but there’s something about these kicks that’s got me genuinely excited. Maybe it’s because they’re so delightfully weird? I mean, pig-themed sneakers? C’mon, that’s not something you see every day!
The Piggy Details That’ll Make You Squeal
The “Piggy Runners” are honestly a sight to behold. They’ve got these beautiful pink and red accents that somehow manage to be both playful AND stylish. Trust me, I’ve seen attempts at pink sneakers go horribly wrong (flashback to that unfortunate pair I bought in 2016 that made my feet look like raw chicken breasts).
But the real magic is in the details. There are actual pig graphics on the tongue and heel! And when you flip these bad boys over, the translucent outsole reveals even more piggy artwork. It’s like having a secret little art show under your feet that only you know about. Well, you and anyone who happens to look at the bottom of your shoes, I guess.
Each pair also comes with special charms, which immediately made me think of my niece who collects those little plastic bracelet charms. Maybe I’ll snag her a pair when these drop… though at $185, that would definitely make me the “cool aunt” of the century.

They’re built with adidas’ Adiprene cushioning, which, from personal experience, feels like walking on tiny, supportive clouds. I tested a different Adiprene model last year during a weekend trip to New York and walked about 9 miles without the usual “my feet are actual hamburger meat now” feeling I normally get after city exploring.
The Adistar Cushion 3 silhouette is actually a classic runner from adidas’ archives, but this collab with Cincinnati-based boutique Unheardof breathes fresh life into it. And honestly, that’s what makes collaborations so special – they take something familiar and turn it into something completely new and unexpected. Like when my mom tried putting avocado in brownies. (Unlike these sneakers, that experiment was NOT a success.)
The Story Behind the Swine
What makes these shoes extra special is the story behind them. Philip Lipshutz, the founder of Unheardof, has woven his personal journey into this release. The whole collaboration represents themes of self-expression and overcoming challenges. I’ve always believed the best sneakers tell a story, and these certainly do.
In my early blogging days, I interviewed several boutique owners who talked about how hard it is to get major brands to take a chance on their creative visions. So seeing a smaller boutique like Unheardof get to create something so boldly unique with a giant like adidas feels like a win for the little guys.

If you’re already mentally making space in your sneaker collection (and I know I am), circle March 29, 2025 on your calendar. That’s when these porky beauties will be released. At $185, they’re not exactly budget kicks, but they’re in line with what you’d expect for a limited collab.
And speaking of limited – they’re only making 1,500 pairs. That’s it! I’ve seen far less interesting sneakers sell out in minutes with larger production runs, so I’m predicting these will fly off shelves faster than free bacon at a breakfast buffet.
Will I be setting my alarm to try and grab a pair? You bet your ham I will. There’s something about the playfulness of these sneakers that just makes me smile. In a world of ultra-serious, tech-focused releases, the “Piggy Runners” remind us that fashion should be fun sometimes.
