Puma and Saysky Team Up for a Wave-Inspired Running Collection That’s Making Waves

Okay, I’ll admit it. I have a problem. My running shoe collection is starting to take over my apartment to the point where my partner has threatened to start charging them rent. But just when I thought I might actually stick to my “no more shoes this year” resolution, Puma and Saysky had to go and announce a collaboration that’s basically impossible to resist.

I first stumbled across Saysky a few years back during a rainy training run in Copenhagen. Ducking into a local running shop to escape a sudden downpour (at least, that’s the excuse I gave myself), I was immediately drawn to their bold designs and no-nonsense approach to running gear. As someone who’s been logging miles and writing about them for over a decade, I can spot the difference between style and substance from a mile away—and Saysky had both.

Now this Copenhagen-based running brand is partnering with Puma for what might be the coolest running collab I’ve seen in years. The collection drops March 13, 2025, which gives me just enough time to clear some closet space and hide my credit card statements from my better half.

Riding the Waves of Inspiration

What really catches my eye about this collection is the inspiration behind it. The designs draw from Hokusai’s famous wave artwork, which is pretty genius when you think about it. Anyone who’s trained for a marathon knows running is basically a series of peaks and troughs—some days you feel like you’re gliding effortlessly over the pavement, and others you’re barely dragging yourself through a simple 5K.

I remember hitting mile 20 during my last marathon when the rain started coming down in sheets. I was soaked, chafing in places I didn’t know could chafe, and questioning every life decision that led me to that moment. But then, somehow, I caught a second wind and rode that wave all the way to the finish line. That’s the beauty of running that this collection seems to capture—the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

The Shoes You’ll Want to Run (Not Walk) In

The collaboration includes three footwear models that have me already calculating my budget for next year:

  • The ForeverRun Nitro 2, which I’m guessing will be my go-to for those long Sunday runs when my knees are begging for mercy
  • The Deviate Nitro 3, perfect for those tempo workouts where I pretend I’m still as fast as I was in my twenties
  • The Deviate Nitro Elite 3, which might actually make me feel elite for once in my running career

Each shoe features those beautiful wave-inspired designs that’ll make you stand out at your next starting line. Though let’s be honest—I’ll probably wear them to the grocery store too, just to show them off.

More Than Just Shoes

As much as I love geeking out over new running shoes, the apparel in this collection has me just as excited. There are hoodies that look cozy enough to live in during recovery days, jackets that’ll make rainy runs slightly less miserable, and singlets that might actually motivate me to do those dreaded track workouts.

The ocean-inspired color palette runs throughout the collection, with blues and whites that remind me of those perfect early morning runs along the coast, when the sun’s just coming up and the world feels momentarily perfect before the day’s chaos begins.

A Community United by the Love of the Run

What I appreciate most about this collaboration is how it celebrates the global running community. I’ve run in cities across the world, and there’s something magical about how a simple nod between runners transcends language barriers. We’re all out there for different reasons—chasing PRs, clearing our heads, or just trying to burn off last night’s pizza—but we’re connected by the shared experience.

This Puma x Saysky collection captures that spirit perfectly. It’s not just about looking good (though that’s definitely a perk); it’s about celebrating the universal passion that gets us lacing up our shoes even when our beds are far more appealing.

Starting March 13, you can find the collection on both Puma and Saysky’s websites, as well as select retailers worldwide. I’d say “set your alarms” because I have a feeling the most popular sizes might disappear faster than my motivation on hill-repeat day.

Will this collection magically make you faster? Probably not. Will it make you look and feel amazing while you’re putting in the work? Absolutely. And sometimes, when you’re dragging yourself out for a run on a cold, dark morning, that extra bit of motivation is worth every penny.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go make some room in my closet and practice looking surprised when these shoes “somehow” find their way to my doorstep next March.
