During NBA All-Star Weekend in February, Converse showed off a new shoe with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who plays for the OKC Thunder. The shoe is called the Shai 001, and now we’re seeing a new “Ares Grey” color.
Converse is making new basketball shoes this year. They created the first basketball shoe ever with their All-Star high-top over 100 years ago. Now, with help from Nike, they picked Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to be in charge of their basketball shoe line, including his own special shoe.
This week, as the NBA Playoffs are happening, shoe companies are showing new colors for their players to wear on the court. We’ve already seen SGA’s SHAI 001 in yellow “Butter” color. Now, he has shown a second style called “Ares Grey.” This shoe is all one color – a warm grey all over.

The second color of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s first Converse shoe won’t be in stores until Fall 2025. The “Ares Grey” shoes will be sold by Converse and some other stores for $130.
